New research shows that Hawaiian short-finned pilot whales are aggressive hunters, diving deep into the Pacific Ocean to catch squid. By tracking eight whales, scientists found that each whale consumes dozens to hundreds of squid daily, leading to an estimated annual consumption of 88,000 tonnes of squid by the entire population.
